Social Capital Development of DHH adolescents
About
Jill Duncan is the Associate Professor/University LeadEquity, Diversity and Inclusion from the School of education, University of Newcastle. She is travelling over to Western Australia to present a very important topic about supporting the social capital development of adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH).
Abstract: For most young people, social capital is essential in transitioning to postsecondary education and employment. For youth who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH), social capital can buffer the negative effects of challenges they are likely to encounter after leaving high school. In this presentation, Jill will cover two recently published studies related to social capital benefits and strategies to assist. The presentation will close with recommendations for schools, families and adolescent DHH students, as well as any questions. Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
