Adelaide German Week '24 - Was ist DEUTSCH? (SOLD OUT)

About
This entertaining and interactive seminar to be held by Frauke Guenther and Samuel Doering at Adelaide's German Academy is set to explore different aspects of what GERMAN actually is!
Starting with German as a LANGUAGE and looking at the close relationship with its English cousin including mutual import words and 'Denglisch', the evening will soon move on to the ever-intriguing field of perceptions of Germany and the Germans, thereby exploring the good as well as the bad of German STEREOTYPES.
After an interval with German 'Brezeln' and German beverages, the focus will shift to what’s GERMAN IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Discover our German heritage and its lasting impact in this engaging presentation, which will take you through the history, culture and vibrant traditions shaping our state today!
As this special evening will be held partly in German and partly in English, it is recommended for German speakers with a minimum of around 2 years of guided language study.
