Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Specialist, Prue Walker, is hosting a FASD workshop for APPTA members on Wednesday, September 11th 2024. Prue is a clinical social worker, who Prue has 20 years’ experience in child protection and out-of-home care services. In 2008, Prue was awarded a Churchill Fellowship, allowing her to continue her studies in the US and Canada.By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Explain what Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is and its neurodevelopmental impact.
• Identify indicators of FASD across different stages of life.
• Outline the process for assessing and diagnosing FASD.
• Recognise and understand common behavioural challenges associated with FASD.
• Identify common comorbid conditions and risk factors associated with FASD.
• Be aware of evidence-based strategies to support individuals with FASD and their families.
• Understand the impact of FASD and trauma, and effective approaches.
