This session is delivered by Amelia Higgs, Principal, and Aimee Hope, Lawyer, Dobson Mitchell Allport who will look at this topic from a legal perspective.

Presenters


Amelia Higgs, Principal, Dobson Mitchell Allport, specialises in family and relationships law. She advocates for out-of- court resolutions wherever possible, but regularly and confidently appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Amelia believes in helping her clients to find solutions that are realistic, pragmatic and tailored to individual needs. She embraces alternative dispute resolution methods including mediation and collaboration. Amelia currently sits on the Board of Women’s Legal Service Tasmania and the Family Law Pathways Network Steering Committee. She is an elected member of the Law Council of the Law Society of Tasmania. Amelia has wrtten a number of articles incluuding, most relevant to this session - Everything you need to know about Surrogacy Law in Tasmania.

Aimee Hope, Lawyer, Dobson Mitchell Allport, commenced work at this firm as a lawyer in 2023. She currently practices in the Family Law team. Aimee assists with a wide range of family law issues, including property, parenting, divorce and surrogacy, and family violence matters. Aimee's practice is to work collaboratively to resolve disputes as quickly as possible with the other party whilst maintaining her client’s best interests.
