Session Summary
This session will share strategies on how to create a trauma-informed, sensitive and safe space for your clients who discuss significant trauma. Using a gendered-lens through your work, means that unlike other sexual harassment matter management, this considers an added layer of complexities and nuanced challenges clients face when talking about experiences of sexual harassment.

Presenters
Jodie Lee, Principal Solicitor at the Women's Legal Service Tasmania
and is the Sexual Harassment at Work lawyer. Jodie's area of work is highly specialised and she works across several jurisdictions (Fair Work Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission, Equal Opportunity Tasmania, TasCAT, Supreme and Federal Courts of Australia). Aside from her incredibly specialised knowledge of the law and each jurisdiction, she puts her clients and client’s wellbeing at the centre of how she chooses to run her cases. Jodie is at the forefront of improving access to justice through improving the experiences clients get when speaking to lawyers about sexual harassment and empowering clients through their journey.
Sharon King is a Social Worker at the Working Women's Centre with Women’s Legal Service Tasmania, based in Burnie, Tasmania, in a statewide role. With a Master of Social Work from the University of Tasmania (2016), Sharon has built a career rooted in intersectional feminism, providing support to women affected by family violence, gender discrimination, and sexual harm. Over the years, Sharon has gained extensive experience in therapeutic clinical counselling, including in leadership roles. Prior to joining the Working Women’s Centre, Sharon served as Counselling Team Leader at Laurel House Sexual Assault and Support Service, where she oversaw a team of social workers and psychologists, while also contributing to policy development and the implementation of the organisation's strategic plans. Throughout her career, Sharon has worked directly with clients, offering specialised trauma therapy to adults, children, and young people impacted by sexual harm, including those who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace.
