ECHOES takes us on a journey through the rich cultures of our Asian neighbours, finding points of mutual attraction and dynamic interplay — a harmonious dialogue between not-so-distant lands. East will meet west in music by Anne Boyd, Julian Yu and Adrian Pertout, and amply illustrate how Australian music is the richer for this connection."When I first began visiting Australia in 2009, I was struck by its proximity to Asia — not just geographically, but culturally and historically. I started to uncover layers of exchange: ancient trade routes, waves of migration, and a deep, ongoing dialogue between cultures. As someone who lives and works within classical music, I became fascinated by how this interplay shaped the music being written here.
