Celebrating Val Eastwood
About
In 1951, Val Eastwood, then 21 years old, opened a coffee lounge at 123 Swanston Street, almost directly opposite Melbourne Town Hall. A visionary, & a pioneer Val's created a space social & meeting space for LGBTIQA+ people of that time. Val was recently recognised with a footpath plaque outside the venue that housed Val's Coffee Lounge.Join us during Victorian Seniors Festival for a small celebration of this well deserved recognition - we will share some information about the trailblazer Val Eastwood.
This is an inclusive event & part of Victorian Seniors Festival.
Meet the Val's LGBTI Ageing & Aged Care team at 1pm on Thursday 24 October outside of Melbourne Town Hall - we will then take a rainbow stroll across the road to 123 Swanston Street Melbourne.
