Composite repairs in a marine environment
Composite repairs in a marine environment have been a practical reality for the past 30 years and have been applied in a wide range of commercial and naval applications. Despite the potential to increase capability and availability, there are barriers to implementing structural composite repairs. This presentation wont address the advantages or disadvantages of composites; however, it will explore and identify barriers to adoption and a route to implementation where the evidence is that they are the optimum solution. This exploration and presentation will synthesise past experience, review organisational best practice, provide illustrative case studies, as well as addressing the barriers to adoption in both naval and civilian contexts.
