Douglas Simper Tribute and Benefit Concert
About
Australian composer, music educator and concert pianist PhD(Composition), MEd(Creative Arts), BMus(Hons), BA, DipT.Doug is wanting to return to Adelaide for his 80th birthday in early December and this concert is a way to cover Lorna and his expenses in getting to Adelaide from Canberra. It is a way to honour Doug’s contribution to music through a breadth of genres. He has some medical issues these days which slow him down a little but we’ll still get to hear some his music from those performing on the day.
The concert musicians are donating their time to honour Doug but also to celebrate the significance of Adelaide music in the 1970s. They were heady days, not least through the contribution of young English immigrants coming to live in Adelaide but also through those who grew up in the suburbs of Adelaide.
