GRAMMY® WINNER, BLUES LUMINARY RUTHIE FOSTER ANNOUNCES SUPPORT ACTS FOR HER AUSTRALIAN TOUR - MARCH 2025
VICTORIA | NEW SOUTH WALES | AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY | QUEENSLAND

Latest album MILEAGE has just won the Grammy® Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album!

Coming in fresh from winning her first Grammy Award® after five previous nominations, Ruthie Foster is set to return to Australia in March 2025, bringing her powerhouse vocals and extraordinary musicianship back to our stages, and has now announced who will be playing the coveted opening slot on her Heartshine Australian Tour.

Opening Ruthie’s Wollongong gig at Centro CBD on Wednesday, March 19 will be local modern day bluesman, Frank Sultana.

Ruthie is also Blues Music Award winner, celebrated for her soulful voice and masterful skills on both guitar and piano. Her Grammy® winning album, Mileage is her tenth studio album and her debut release with the iconic Sun Records label. The tour is named after one of the albums standout tracks, Heartshine, a song that took shape during the writing sessions as a shared vision between Ruthie, Bryant, and Lovell. With its emotional depth and soul-stirring sound, the track is a fitting symbol for the albums powerful narrative.

Frank Sultana has evolved into one of Australia's premier bluesmen since his debut back in 2011, and in that time has established himself as one of the sought after and popular blues musicians in the country. And now the world knows about him as well!
In Jan 2023 at the Memphis International Blues Challenge, among a field of 160 artists from around the world, Frank performed his way through 4 nights , and was the last man standing, winning the solo duo section of the most prestigious blues competition in the world. In doing so he became just the 3rd artist outside of North America to do so, joining fellow Australians Fiona Boyes (2003) and Jimi Hocking (2005) and cementing his place in Australian Blues folklore.

On his return he took home 5 Sydney Blues Society Awards (2023) in the categories of:

Artists Choice
Best Traditional Blues
Best Songwriter
