Protecting our Powerful Plant Pollinators

Protecting our Powerful Plant Pollinators

hero
Come along to Lost Lands Found in Central Park, Malvern to celebrate Australian Pollinator Week (9-17 Nov) and get to know some of our City's smallest and most important residents: our powerful pollinators!

You'll hear from entomologist Dr Luis Mata about why local pollinators are an important part of a healthy, urban environment, and learn how to recognise key species like butterflies, moths, flies, and wasps in your garden.

Wemba Wemba Wergaia ecologist and creator of Lost Lands Found eco-art installation Dean Stewart will also unpack the important role we can all play in providing habitat and food in our gardens for our pollinating pals by including indigenous plants.

Attendees will also get to take part in the 2024 Australian Pollinator Count, a national citizen science event in which participants contribute important data that helps researchers better understand how Australia's pollinator populations change over time.

If you haven’t done a pollinator count before, don’t worry – we’ll guide you through how to complete your count on the day.

Bookings essential as places are limited.

Please dress for the weather as this is an outdoor event.

If you feel unwell on the day, please do not attend the event.
