Do you like birds? Want to join a cool citizen science project? No experience necessary.Vegetation connectivity plays a vital role in the diversity and long-term survival of native plants and animals. Without good native vegetation corridors, species struggle to spread and thrive across the landscape.
With funding from a Hepburn Shire Biodiversity Grant, Wattle Flat Pootilla Landcare Group is running seasonal bird surveys to collect data around species diversity across different landscapes.
Where: Russell’s Reservoir, Wattle Flat. West side of Melbourne Road C291. Look for the Wattle Flat Pootilla Landcare Group sign.
• Travelling from Creswick: On the right approx 6.3km from Midland Highway junction
• Travelling towards Creswick: On the left approx 7.3km from Pootilla roundabout
Following an introductory session, Survey groups will move from Russell’s Reservoir to other areas around Wattle Flat - Newlyn.
What to bring: sturdy walking shoes, camera, phone, binoculars.
