Works by Corelli, Vivaldi, Tartini & Scarlatti.Davide Monti, affectionately known as “The Italian Devil” will captivate us again with his extraordinary talent. The master of the baroque violin joins members of Accadamia Arcadia, Josephine Vains on baroque cello, and Jacqueline Ogeil on Cristofori piano. Monti’s approach to violin playing is characterized by improvisational genius and exceptional techniques, and he is known for his charismatic stage presence.
Accademia Arcadia is a Baroque chamber ensemble formed in 2001 to explore the trio sonata, cantata, early opera and grand liturgical music genres. Its annual performances in the Woodend Winter Art Festival have been a popular feature, including liturgical gems with chamber choir Ensemble Gombert. First Australian performances with original instruments include D. Scarlatti cantatas, Haydn’s Harmoniemesse and Vivaldi’s Vespers. At the 2024 Festival, an expanded ensemble accompanied acclaimed performances of Bach's St John Passion.
