Embark on a delightful return journey from Tempe or Sutherland to Bombo, where you’ll be immersed in a classic Australian Christmas atmosphere. Your adventure begins at either Tempe or Sutherland, where you will be warmly welcomed aboard our vintage train with a complimentary glass of bubbles, setting the tone for a festive day.

As we depart from Sutherland, the early dining sitting commences, allowing you to indulge in a sumptuous meal while the stunning landscapes of the Royal National Park and South Coast glide by your window. Feel the tranquility of rail travel as you savor the flavors of the season.

Upon arrival at Bombo, guests dining in the early lunch sitting will transition to our cozy air conditioned lounge carriage for relaxation while the late lunch sitting will get to enjoy the dining car and their meal experience begins beside Bombo beach, for the gently meandering journey home.

Whether you prefer the comfort of our first class air conditioned carriage's or the charm of our open window heritage dining experience, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Australia’s summer scenery. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate Christmas in style!​

First Class Lunch - Air conditioned Lounge & Dining car - $210 per person

Travel in our air-conditioned dining & lounge car where you have the option of a early or late lunch sitting. 

​​Heritage Lunch for 2 or 4 - $400 for 2 / $800 for 4

Enjoy your lunch experience in one of our open window heritage carriage's sitting in a shared compartment of 4.  (Private Dining Compartment for 2 supplement available) 

​​Private Heritage Lunch for 2 - $500 per 2

Enjoy a private lunch experience in one of our open window heritage carriage's with exclusive use of one of our Private Compartments for 2 people.

Buffet Car:

Our buffet car will be available for light snacks and drinks. We encourage passengers to bring their own picnic hampers.

BYO alcohol is not allowed. Alcohol can be purchased from the Buffet Car.

The Picnic Train is now a licensed venue.  We have obligations under our Plan of Management to ensure the safety of passengers.  Whilst the Plan of Management and the liquor license act are available should anyone wish to review, some important conditions are
* Alcohol will not be sold to persons under 18 and our team is trained to request proof of age.
* There are maximum limits in place, our team is trained to deny serving alcohol where appropriate.
* No Alcohol is to be taken or consumed off the train.

BYO alcohol is not allowed

Toilets are available in most carraiges

Mobile Phones:

There are limited charging points on the heritage equipment. It is recommended that you bring an external battery charger for your mobile devices.

Motive Power:

Our Heritage Diesels are planned for this journey.
