About

The Preston Symphony Orchestra invites you to celebrate its 75th birthday with an adventurous program of music, drawing on past achievements and future growth. The season for 2025 opens with a return visit to Preston by violinist Anne-Marie Johnson. Anne-Marie won the Youth Concerto Competition in 2008 – she is now the Acting Associate Concertmaster of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. She is playing the Bruch Concerto for Violin No1 on 23 March. The concert also includes a major work by Melbourne composer, Katy Abbott, "Hidden Thoughts 3: Stories of Awe", and Shostakovich’s "Festive Overture". The conductor is Andrew Groch.
