Join us aboard The Vintage Train for a journey to the river town of Rochester behind our vintage Streamliner diesels S301 & S313.

Departing Southern Cross Station at 8am, relax in your comfortable compartment and enjoy the scenery as our pair of classic diesel locomotives power out of Melbourne and through the Bendigo line's historic tunnels and viaducts, with spectacular views such as from atop the 33 metre high Taradale Viaduct opened in 1862. After a short pause at Bendigo we continue on the Echuca Line where the grades ease as our train parallels the course of the Campaspe River, before arriving at Rochester at 12:49pm.

Rochester
Take time to explore the town and the banks of the Campaspe River.
There are a number of dining options including pubs, cafes and takeaway shops. Most shops and the river are within a 10-minute walk from the station platform.
Please ensure you book in advance for lunch. There may be limited availability at local venues being a Sunday.
Passengers are asked to return to Rochester Station at 3:10pm.

Reboard the train for a 3:25pm departure from Rochester. Spend time in Club Cars 'Moorabool' and 'Hobsons Bay' while the train picks up speed for our return to Melbourne, finishing a memorable day out onboard The Vintage Train!

Experience our 'E Type' Carriages dating back to 1906 with beautiful timber work & pressed-tin ceilings, walk-through corridors and comfortable compartment style seating. Featuring old-school air-con, with the windows wide open to listen to the engine working hard up the hills. All seating is reserved.

THE VINTAGE TRAIN
Ride with us onboard 'The Vintage Train’, fully restored by Steamrail as an important part of Victoria’s rail heritage.  Our diesel locomotives date from 1953 to 1968, while the carriages range from as early as 1906.  The train features beautiful timber work & pressed-tin ceilings, walk-through corridors, comfortable compartment style seating, a licensed bar and kiosk, and toilets with washrooms.  All rail seating is reserved.

ON-TRAIN SERVICES
Our on-train facilities include Club Car 'Moorabool', with a kiosk which stocks a wide range of light refreshments, snacks, and hot & cold drinks. A licensed bar will also be operating, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits.  A range of souvenirs will also be able for purchase from our on-board store.
