This introductory workshop provides clinicians with foundational knowledge about Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, including different surgery types, mechanisms of weight loss, and the nuances of eating disorders post-surgery. Participants will explore key topics such as diagnosis, the impact of disordered eating on surgical outcomes, and adapting cognitive behavioural therapy for post-surgery care. Designed for psychologists, dietitians, mental health occupational therapists, and GPs, the workshop assumes prior training in eating disorder treatment but requires no previous experience with Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Presenters:
Mari Harrison, an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician with over 25 years of experience.
Dr Carmel Harrison, a Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in weight concerns, BED.
