Our lecturer will be Associate Professor Chris Watkin from Monash University. Dr Watkin is the author of the 2023 Australian Christian Book of the Year, Biblical Critical Theory. As a specialist in French studies, he is thoroughly grounded in the intellectual movements which have shaped our current culture and which are so important for educators to understand. These aspects include the Enlightenment, through Existentialism and post-modernism. Dr Watkins range includes such leading thinkers as Rousseau, Foucault, Derrida. Indeed, this cultural shift provides the milieu in which our students, somewhat unconsciously, swim.
