Wonthaggi Citizens' Band - Community music - By the community for the community.
Established in 1910, the Wonthaggi Citizens' Band is one of Wonthaggi's longest-running community organisations, proudly enriching the town's cultural fabric for over a century.
Since the 1980s, the band has delighted audiences with its Annual Concert at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre. Guided by its mission, 'dedicated to nurturing the future of music in our town,' the band provides accessible, high-quality brass music tuition for all ages.
As a volunteer-run, registered charity, the band relies on the generosity of the community through donations, grants, and proceeds from its Annual Concert. These vital contributions support music education for both youth and adults and sustain a first-rate rehearsal space for the band’s ongoing success.
The Wonthaggi Citizens' Band fosters a welcoming and diverse environment, playing a significant role in shaping the musical journeys of many local musicians while continuing to be a vibrant symbol of unity and harmony in the region.
