Early to Late Baroque

Early to Late Baroque

Salon concerts at Broadford is a delightful venue in the middle of secluded bushland 45 minutes north of the Melbourne M80 ringroad that has been offering concerts with top musicians since 2011. The mudbrick house has cathedral ceilings and polished spotted gum floors resulting in excellent accoustics for chamber music. Holding up to 60 people the setting is always intimate and cosy. While there is a focus on baroque music featuring the very fine Ruckers harpsichord made in Switzerland, there is a fine concert grand piano which is used for many a concert as well. With post concert complimentary drinks from a boutique winemaker and free parking the concerts become a real social occasion as well as a fine music experience.

In 2025 the concerts include music from late 16th century to late 18th century with Hannah Lane, principal harpist with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra on Baroque Triple Harp, Meredith Beardmore on Baroque Flute, Dutch born Niels Bijl returning yet again to explore baroque music on Saxophone, Kate Louise Macfarlane singing 17th century music by Barbarq Strozzi with Samantha Cohen on theorbo, Sam Goble on Baroque  Violoncello, and Peter Hagen on Harpsichord. All concerts are around 60-70 minutes starting at 4.00pm with doors opening at 3.30pm.

Come and enjoy these fine concerts throughout 2025. If you wish further details on the programmes do not hesitate to email me although at the time of writing (December 2024) general outlines of the concerts are planned as below with further details being finalised throughout the year.

30 March: Hannah Lane – triple harp This mid-16th to mid 17th century programme for baroque triple harp explores Italin 'secret music' of the time and Eliabethan court music.
