Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a nationally acknowledged program designed to assist people who are experiencing a mental health problem or crisis until appropriate professional treatment is available or the crisis resolves.This training is offered to equip with knowledge and skills to offer initial support to someone they are concerned about who is experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health problem.
Ian Schoonwater is an authorised instructor and a Chaplain with Jericho Road. Ian serves as Senior Chaplain for the NSW Police Force in the North West Metropolitan Sydney and the Western NSW Region. Ian brings knowledge and experience from church organisation settings including pastoral concerns- depression, anxiety and burnout, as well as management of irate and aggressive visitors and those showing self-harming, suicidal and other self-destructive behaviours.
Date: Thursday 13 & 20 February 2025 - 3pm - 5:30pm on-line (plus ~5-7 hours self-directed pre-work)
