Transition to Parenthood
The Transition to Parenthood program aims to equip parents in their transition to parenthood.
An experienced RHW midwife facilitates this program. It has been structured around evidence-based content to provide participants with the skills and confidence to embrace their journey to parenthood.
Ideally this program should be commenced between 26 – 30 weeks' gestation (but you can choose when works best for you). It is open to those expecting their first baby, subsequent baby, more than one baby. Your partner / support person is encouraged to attend each session with you.
The content of this program will include:
- The Fourth Stage/The Golden Hour
- Normal Newborn Appearances
- The First Week – Newborn
- Tests and Investigations
- Taking your Baby Home – Follow-up
- Bathing and Dressing
- Nappy Changing
- Normal Newborn Behaviours
- Sleep and Settling
- The First Week – Mother
- Rest and Recovery
- Relationship Changes
- Post-Birth Preferences
- Birth Unit Tour (you do not need to book into the Birth Unit tour separately as it is already included in this course)
**Note: This course content is covered in the Birth and Transitions to Parenthood course. If you are booked into the Birth and Transitions to Parenthood course you DO NOT need to book into Transitions to Parenthood separately**
The program is run:
- On weekday evenings from 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Cost is $40 (cost covers the birthing person and partner / support person)
