About
The Ryan Gatgens Memorial Golf Day has swelled from an idea of a hit between a few mates to attracting a full field almost 400 players. Gatgens who played in the Drysdale Hawks 2009 and 2010 flags, was 32 when he passed away in August 2019 following a battle with mental health. Ryan’s family selected the charity as the beneficiary of the now annual day’s Inaugural event, after the organization provided invaluable support following his death.The not-for-profit organization based in Geelong offers free information, support and counselling when grieving the death of a baby or child, grieving the death of an adult and grieving after suicide. Ryan’s impact on the community is evident from the growth of this memorial event, with friends, golf buddies, workmates and football club members all participating to raise vital funds for the local service.
