PSR favs are back to launch their brand new single 'Seaside Town'.
Although originally inspired by Mike’s family’s seasonal trips to his caravan in Torquay, 'Seaside Town' pays homage to anyone’s summer coastal escape. And with Gordo living on the other side of the bay on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula, a Kinematic tune about unwinding by the beach was probably inevitable. The song is infectious - we knew we were on to something special the very first time we played it live at the Peninsula SongRiders Club, with everyone jumping out of their seats for a dance. So it seems appropriate that we launch 'Seaside Town' at Peninsula SongRiders as a thank you to one of our favourite local audiences. They helped convince us that this seaside song should be our next single.
Supports on the day will be Gab Hester and Jalgany duo (feat. Nola Lauch & Pete Dawson).
With a gravelly voice beyond his years, Gab Hester is a young up & coming Mornington Peninsula musician. Armed with his guitars and power-house vocals, Gab effortlessly captivates crowds with his original songs and recently finished in the top 24 of the TV show Australian Idol.
Nola Lauch is a Kirrae-wurrung/Bundjalung woman who lives on the Mornington Peninsula. Nola is an visual artist, singer and songwriter who is committed to celebrating and sharing Aboriginal music, art and culture - in 2017 Nola received a regional NAIDOC Artist of the Year award in recognition of her songwriting and live performances. Nola fronts Jalgany and, along with her co-songwriter Pete Dawson, will be treating PSR to an intimate acoustic set.
With five studio albums, a compilation, a soundtrack, a live album/film and a whole bunch of singles, Kinematic's music has been described as indie rock, pop, folk, alternative and electronic, all of which is confusingly true. 2025 marks 25 years of songwriting for the band, and they're celebrating with the release of the single Seaside Town, with studio album #6 hot on its heels.
