On Guard - Tour Of The WW2 Prospect Air Raid Shelter

In this tour you will visit the interior of the shelter and learn how our civil defence was planned.You will learn about the efforts of the ordinary people on the Homefront during this time- role of the air raid wardens, rationing, the role of women and children, the building of home air raid shelters and precautions taken in the home.
A short film made in 1942 showing an air raid warden demonstration will be shown.
The outside Gardens commemorate those who served in the War and honours the civil defence effort in our local community,
Additional display panels tell the tragic stories of several other local people, including Vivienne Bullwinkel, who were involved in the theatre of war.
One Hour session. $5.00 per ticket. Children under 12 years of age free.
Note: 13 steep steps, with handrail, to access the shelter. Closed shoes must be worn.
