MATTUTINO: William Schmidt
Pianist and composer William Schmidt has been aptly described by the Flinders Quartet as having “an intense musical intelligence paired with an unparalleled sensitivity”.
He has curated a program of works inspired by art song, opera, and folk song. It features works of Debussy, Schubert, Bizet and folk songs from Ireland, England and France, which have been reimagined in pianistic arrangements and paraphrases. Many are William's own arrangements, and they are woven amongst those of Liszt, Balakirev and Beryl Rubinstein. The result: an hour of nostalgia, introspection and virtuosity.
Mattutino is our monthly Sunday morning concert series.
One hour of music at 11am.
