This course is designed to provide a foundation of knowledge & skills to nursing staff caring for paediatric patients in the regional hospital setting.There will be a range of topics presented by Paediatric Clinical Nurse Educators & Paediatric Clinicians to enhance the professional development of nurses working with this cohort.
This course will aim at building paediatric specific assessment skills, recognising & responding to a deteriorating child, as well as providing foundational knowledge.
Topics included:
Foundaton knowledge - how are paeds different?
Basic Life Support
Procedural Support & minimising distress
Deteriorating child & sepsis
Respiratory conditions & assessments
Diabetes in children
Fluid management - why it is important
Skills - NGT's, pathology, medications, assessments
Vascular access
