This walking tour uncovers the forgotten footprint and architecture of Adelaide’s Destitute Asylum which housed South Australia’s poor, especially new arrivals, and mothers with children between 1850 and 1918.Discover the fascinating history and learn about lives of those who lived here.
Join staff from the Migration Museum, currently occupying some of the Asylum’s last surviving buildings and discover the orientation of the site and its structures that famously was Adelaide’s Destitute Asylum.

*Tour is subject to weather conditions and runs for approximately 60-90 minutes.
**To participate in this tour, you must be able to walk an extensive distance, stand for long periods and undertake a substantial number of steps.
