Teaching EAL/D Through the Arts

Teaching EAL/D Through the Arts

About

Using the Australian Curriculum learning area content descriptors as a starting point, this session will explore how teachers can harness the full knowledge and identity repertoires of EAL/D students to meet ACARA’s achievement standards. Our presenters will show how Drama and The Arts supports EAL/D students’ linguistic and conceptual knowledge for writing an explanation text. Practical suggestions will be used to demonstrate how tapping into EAL/D students’ background knowledge through The Arts and Drama supports their achievement at school.
