2025 Learn to spin on a spindle with Caitlin
Introduction to spinning with hand spindles and tools. We will discuss the principles of spinning with hand spindles, techniques for using spindles, and how up create a yarn using hand spindles.
Participants will learn how to effectively spin singles from Woolen fibre and ply into a two ply yarn.It is preferred that you bring your own spindle that you will be using to learn with, however spindles will be available for sale if you do not have one to bring beforehand.
Participants bring:
Drop spindle or preferred spindle for using during the workshop. You can hire a spindle if you wish, or you might like to buy one from Caitlin for $20 on the day.
Fibre for spinning (corriedale or coarse grippy wool, preferably not merino)
Scrap string and twine
A Shoebox/ similar cardboard box
Knitting needles or skewers
Post it notes (square shape)
