The Shoe-Horn Sonata - by John Misto; directed by Anne Wilson.Bridie and Sheila come to take part in a 1995 documentary to be made about women who lived in Japanese POW camps during WWII. They had been bosom buddies at camp and yet have not been in touch for fifty years.
The Shoe-Horn Sonata is about Sheila and Bridie’s relationship. It tells of camp stories, sonatas, secrets and a shoe-horn. What happened in camp to make for the friends’ seeming estrangement?
This tender, funny and compassionate look at camp life and afterwards gives a whole new insight into war, love and relationships.
