2025 Basic Ikat/Kasuri Techniques + Painting on the Warp

This workshop is an introduction to the colourful Ikat/Kasuri weaving (and dyeing) that is practised around the world. It can be a simple but also a very sophisticated textile technique. Participants will explore basic techniques and various ways of painting dyes on the warp and/or weft, as well as warp shifting. Participants will work at their own pace and skill level.
Tutor:
Monique van Nieuwland has 40+ years weaving experience and is a CSW Life member. Her work has included painted warps and Ikat/Kasuri techniques.
Workshop dates:
Three 4 hour sessions Wednesday 2, 9 and 16 April
9.30am-2.30pm (includes time for a lunch break)
