There is no doubt that The Dream, as it is fondly known, is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays. Capturing the muddled buffoonery of the mechanicals, the misplaced affections of the lovers, and the merciless mischief of the fairies, it is equal parts comedy, drama and fantasy. Drawing on Grotowski’s immersive theatre philosophy, director Rob Jorritsma has created a powerful show centred on the actor’s performance, with minimal props. As we have come to expect from Rob’s shows, evocative live music will accompany the action.
