Learning how to read lace charts and practicing the skills of lace knitting. Discovering the history and culture surrounding traditional Estonian Haapsalu lace shawls/ Shetland lace shawls. Explore how lace is made. Consider how the traditional craft of lace knitting is being made modern.Knit a variety of lace stitches. You’ll be given a handout with photographs, charts and written instructions for each stitch. Practice makes perfect, so a bit of practice in class will help too before starting the pattern.
Finishing and blocking a big lace shawl/scarf is always one of the most important things about knitting. In this modern and dynamic world, I hope that you might take a few moments to savor your lace stitches…Participants need to bring: Knitting needle 2.75mm lace circular 80cm (if not, could be purchased Addi 2.75mm lace circular 80cm before the class starts) Let us know to bring.
Prerequisite Skills: Must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off and work basic increases & decrease
