Heritage Sailing Tasmania Ltd
Sail Hobart's oldest working sailing vessel
The OFF SEASON: Sail during Autumn and Winter
VENUE: Sail the River Derwent (actual direction depends on the wind!)
Join us on Hobart Waterfront at the Elizabeth Street Pier. To find us you'll walk right to the very end and down the stairs, we are now tucked in behind 'Mustique'.
We sail most weekends for an afternoon tea sail. All the crew are volunteers, and you'll have an opportunity to chat with them, take the helm (under supervision) or just sit back and relax. Kids love to ring the bell on the hour and half hour to mark the time.
You will experience a two hour sail with sails set and enjoy a cup of tea, coffee or juice light refreshments as we cruise the River Derwent. All our food is vegetarian, we prefer to use local produce where possible, and Gluten free, vegan options are available, too. Please indicate your dietary requirements at time of booking to allow us to include these options during your sail.
The OFF SEASON Sail includes hot refreshments to keeep you wam on those cooler days. Hobart weather is changeable, so we'll select what is best for the day on the morning of the sail!
We recognise Tasmania has variable and changing weather conditions and will update guests with any changes to our schedule by email and phone. Please be sure to keep your contact details up to date after booking.

The ship was built in 1942 as a recreational gentleman's fishing vessel by renowned shipwright Ned Jack for the Youl family. She was then operated from Stanley by Max Hardy for many years as a commercial fishing boat, (see the small image above) fishing mainly for crays and couta and has been in continuous survey since around 1947. Rhona H was converted to her current configuration in 1988-89 and is now operated by Heritage Sailing Tasmania.
Private charter options are available; please email us for more information.
