What environmental impact do we have as artists? Can we step lightly on the earth in our practice? Explore the fundamentals of painting with a focus on natural pigments, non-toxic, plastic free mediums, and an ecologically sensitive approach to art making with exhibiting artist Emily Imeson.Emily will take participants through the fundamentals of preparing surfaces to work on, making paints from natural pigments, followed by guided drawing exercises, and painting demonstrations, both abstract and landscape based. The workshop will then move into experimental mark-making and an exploration of the materials, with a final focus on the creation of two small compositions. At the end of the workshop participants will have two small, completed works to take home with them.
Emily’s exhibition Worlds Within Worlds is on show at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery from 6 March to 27 April 2025.
