LENTEN REFLECTION - Organ & Chant

French musicians Johann Vexo, organist, and Damien Rivière, tenor, will present a concert of music with Lenten themes at Our Lady of Victories Basilica in Camberwell on Tuesday 8th April at 7.00pm.
Mr Vexo, at the age of 25, won the competition to become Choir Organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. He is now Organist of the Cavaillé-Coll great organ of the Cathedral in Nancy, Professor of Organ at the Conservatory and at the Superior Music Academy in Strasbourg. Mr Rivière is a regular performer of early music, and sings with various ensembles including Les Chantres de Paris, an ensemble he himself founded.
The grand Basilica of Our Lady of Victories boasts a magnificent pipe organ from 1920, built by T.W. Magahy & Son of Cork, Ireland. The reeds sound with enormous distinction and are some of the finest to be found in Melbourne. The fluework, too, has great brilliance.
