Further Native Title and Indigenous Cultural Heritage Law

Building on the foundation developed in the Native Title & Indigenous Cultural Heritage Law day seminar, Further Native Title and Indigenous Cultural Heritage Law (Victoria) comprises two further components on the topics of Native Title and cultural heritage operations.The first component (9:00 - 12:30) covers important issues facing those whose work involves Native Title Future Acts or Cultural Heritage Management Plans in Victoria, including consideration of the current law around interpretation of concepts such as “significant ground disturbance” and “areas of cultural heritage sensitivity”.
The second component (1:00 - 4:30) examines definitions of cultural heritage under Commonwealth law including the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC) & the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984.
