Āmuktamālyada by Dr. Janaki Rangarajan

About
Chandralaya School of Dance is honoured to present the Melbourne premiere of Dr. Janaki Rangarajan’s latest choreographic work, Āmuktamālyada, on June 28th.This evocative solo Bharathanatyam production explores the emotional and spiritual journey of Āndāl—the only female saint among the Vaishnavaite Āzhwārs. Loosely following the Mārgam format, it traces her path from divine longing to mystical union with Lord Ranganātha.
Based on the classical Telugu epic by Emperor Krishnadevarāya, the work bridges language and geography, honouring a Tamil saint through Telugu poetry rooted in Kannada land—celebrating devotion that transcends time, region, and tradition.
Āmuktamālyada is a rare confluence of poetry, bhakti, and movement—an offering of depth, beauty, and grace.
