Mizuhiki, traditional Japanese paper cords, are widely used in gift decorations and hold a deep cultural significance. Join Mizuhiki artist Anna to create your own elegant earrings and a pendant using the Plum Blossom knot technique. Includes a short talk about the history of Mizuhiki. Please bring a pair of scissors and a pen.
Workshop 2 (1:00-3:00): Chirimen ribbon hair accessories
Chirimen is a crepe fabric with a distinctive crimped texture, traditionally used in kimono making. In this workshop, Yukimi from Sachi Japanese Handcrafts will help you make a highly decorative Chirimen ribbon hair accessory in a style that's very popular in Japan today for special occasions like graduations and coming-of-age ceremonies. All materials and tools supplied. Includes enough materials to make another ribbon at home.
