The 2025 Cartledge Lecture and Symposium

The 2025 Cartledge Lecture will be held at 6pm on Thursday 14 August. The leading historian of Christianity, Stuart Piggin, will speak on the idea of a Christian university. The title of his lecture is “Reason and the Spirit: The University in British, American and Australian Evangelical and Pentecostal Traditions.”Following the Cartledge lecture, the Australasian Pentecostal Studies Centre will host an academic symposium on Friday, 15 August. The symposium will present interdisciplinary reflection on the role of Christian universities in shaping intellectual, spiritual, and public life.
The Alphacrucis campus is located a short walk from Parramatta train station. Undercover parking is also available on campus for $12 per day. Light refreshments will be served before the Cartledge Lecture, and lunch and refreshments will be provided at the symposium.
For the Friday symposium, please arrive at 8:30am for registration and an 8:45am start. The last session will end at 4pm.
