Megan Peart, MAPh Foundation Chair, and Anouska Phizacklea, MAPh Director, invite you and a guest to an intimate dinner with Bill Henson in celebration of MAPh's exhibition 'The basement: photography from Prahran College (1968–1981)'.Please join us for a special evening with one of Australia's greatest living artists, Bill Henson. This unique 'Behind the Lens' dinner will include an ‘in conversation’ with Henson and take place amongst rare vintage prints from the 1960s through to the early 1980s, a period that defined art photography in Australia. Hear Bill Henson’s experiences from his time at Prahran College in the mid-1970s, and insights into his first solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria in 1975, when he was 19 years old.
'The basement', a landmark exhibition at the Museum of Australian Photography, looks at the students and teachers who were part of a progressive, edgy wave of image-makers excited about the medium’s potential.
