From the Salons to the Trenches: French Piano Trios

About
The Hartley Trio is presenting a French programme of two very different master works from around the turn of the 20th century (often referred to as the Fin de siècle). Cécile Chaminade's seldom performed First Trio is characteristic of the Parisienne "Salon culture", in stark contrast to Maurice Ravel's only Piano Trio, which the composer finished writing only weeks before joining the army to serve his country in World War I. As it has been our custom, we are combining these two amazing compositions with matching literary works, this time in both in English and French, performed by our versatile colleague and friend, Mitch Riley.Location
