Cultural Insight: being an effective ally while working in the community space
Dandenong & District Aborigines Co-operative Pty. are holding a free Cultural Insights training session for primary care providers in the South East Melbourne Primary Health Network (SEMPHN) catchment.
This course takes participants on a journey through PowerPoint presentations, discussions, and experiential learning opportunities.
Presented by
This course will be hosted by Dandenong and District Aborigines Co-operative Ltd (DDACL) and will be facilitated by AJ Williams-Tchen of Girraway Ganyi Consultancy Pty Ltd. This will be a face to face Event.
Course facilitator, AJ Williams is an award winning Wiradjuri / Wotjobulak Aboriginal Nurse, Youth Worker and Social Worker with over 30 years experience working within Aboriginal health and well-being, mental health and community settings. He is a Licenced Master MHFA Instructor, Cultural Mentor and Podcaster.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes for this session are:
- Identify factors that affect contemporary Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people in 2025.
- Acknowledge historical events that impact on First nations people today.
- Highlight practical skills & strategies to be the most effective ally in the First Nations space
Cost
The training is provided at no cost but registration is essential.
