Trauma informed practice with families and children workshop

This is a full-day workshop for frontline workers and service providers (teachers, educators, nurses, health, community and support staff) working directly with children and families.The workshop will focus on working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families to support culturally safe and trauma-informed practice, covering:
• background of colonisation, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal peoples' social and emotional wellbeing.
• understanding of how trauma impacts the developing mind, brain and behaviour.
• tools needed to provide trauma-informed responses to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to create safety and support their long-term development.
Jordan Gibbs is a proud Peerapper/Anglo-Celtic man who was born and raised off country. Jordan currently works at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in the Aboriginal Health Team and at Connected Minds Psychology as a provisional psychologist.
