Proficiency Assessment*: Saturday, 6th September (2.15 or 2.45pm) or Sunday 14th September (12.45 or 1.15pm) at Cranbrook Aquatic Centre (wetsuits not permitted)
*floatation / submersion / propulsion - in minimum 1 metre water depth: back or front float for 5 seconds, recover to stand / submerge to touch the bottom with hands / from standing position in waist deep water, peform a front glide (1-2m) and recover to stand.
New Parent Welcome: date & time TBC (early October)
Nippers Season: Sunday, 12th October at 8.00am (sign in at 7.45am) to Sunday, 15th March (with break for Xmas holidays). Wetsuits maybe worn at all Sunday sessions.
Nippers is volunteer run! Our parents often have just as much fun as our kids. The more help we can get, the better our program will be.
If you wish to actively help with Nipper activities in the water you will need to hold a current Bronze Medallion (BM), have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and be a Member of Bondi Surf Club.
Our Age Managers (BM recommended) lead their group each week. Age Assistants are just that! We need plenty of parents to help with activities on the beach and to provide Age Managers with any admin assistance.
Age Managers (without a BM) and Age Assistants are classified as General Members of Bondi Surf Club ($90), have completed the appropriate Age Manager or Age Assistant Awards and have a current WWCC.
We also rely heavily on Water Safety which requires a BM.
As part of the registration process we will require all U6 Nipper parents to volunteer in some capacity, i.e.
- Water Safety (BM required)
- Age Manager (BM recommended) - Course required
- Age Assistant - Course required
- BBQ Assistant
- Beach set up
