Contact Improvisation for older bodies (Series 2)

About
Contact Improvisation is a dance form that explores the physical forces that hold dancers in relationship, such as gravity, momentum and inertia. CI can be wildly athletic. It can also be slow and gentle.A brilliant aspect to CI is how easily it can be adapted. Injuries and limitations can, in fact, be creative constraints that help us find new ways to move.
This series of 3 classes with Rachael West develops key CI practices, like weight-sharing, rolling point of contact and falling in a way that respects where your body is at.
Solo somatic practice will be followed by slow duet exercises. We will develop the material in "CI jams", trios and ensemble work, and explore ways to move more effortlessly when your body has limitations.
Max. 8 per class.
