The Preserving and Pickling Class introduces the timeless and satisfying art of food preservation, making it accessible to everyone from kitchen novices to seasoned cooks. In this hands-on session, participants explore a range of techniques to extend the life of fresh, seasonal produce—turning fruits and vegetables into delicious jams, chutneys, and pickles.The class begins with important food safety practices for preserving, followed by knife skills for preparing produce efficiently. You'll learn how to sterilise and seal jars properly for long-term storage and get practical advice on selecting cost-effective seasonal ingredients. By the end of the class, participants take home their own homemade preserves and the skills needed to confidently experiment with flavors, stock their pantry, and reduce food waste—all while enjoying the fruits of their labour year-round.
