Seachtain de Chultúr na hÉireann - Harps and More Harps
About
Greg has been playing Celtic harp for around 30 years. He has played in several ensembles, including the “Fellowship of the Strings” 2004 to 2008, and with “Springtide” 2009 to present. For this workshop he will bring in some different styles and sizes of harps. He will briefly go through the history and evolution of the Celtic harp, and cover the basic methods of playing, tuning and maintaining the instrument.And, of course, he will play some of his favourite tunes, including some from the Irish master of the harp, Turlough O’Carolan. He is also quite happy for people to try out the harp. They can become very addictive!
This workshop is part of Seachtain de Chultúr na hÉireann (A Week of Irish Culture) hosted by Comhaltas Canberra and supported by the Government of Ireland Emigrant Support Program
