There's a lot of media forms and ideas out there and moving image content coming at audiences every minute of every day. There's themes and topics that shift every year and there's audiences who are hankering for things that hit in interesting ways. How then do filmmakers get their work to stand out while tackling or working with different characters, different themes and different approaches.

In this session we speak to two filmmakers who've done exactly that to great success locally and internationally: the team behind the cracking action film Unstoppable and the lyrical examination of women's contribution to silent cinema, Karen Pearlman.
